Many people have asked me what a T-Bow is. My answer is that a T-Bow is a wolf in sheep's clothing; a home exercise device that looks like nothing you've ever seen before. All it appears to be is a piece of strong plastic in the shape of a small humpback bridge. It is bright orange and has a blue mat on the curved side. Believe it or not, this T-Bow is the only piece of home exercise kit that you will ever need! The only extras you will need are some inexpensive elastic exercise bands and perhaps some hand weights, to vary your exercise routine. Not only can the T-Bow be used for cardio-type exercises, improving heart and lung function and aiding in weight loss, it is also perfect for strength exercises which are an essential part of any full-body exercise routine, helping to build lean muscle and burn more calories even when you are not exercising.
The secret of the T-Bow lies in its versatility. It can be used either way up; with the curved side facing upward it acts as a stable surface for exercising. This side up it can be used as a step. Stepping up and down is an exercise that anyone can perform, yet stepping raises the heart rate and makes you breathe heavily, thus working the heart and lungs. Stepping up and down engages all the muscles in the front and back of your legs; stepping over the T-Bow from side to side works the inner and outer thigh and doing either helps improve your balance. Doing step briskly for one hour will burn 500 to 600 calories.
But this is only part of what you can do with the T-Bow. If you turn it over, it becomes a rocking platform, and can be used for further cardio exercises, challenging your balance and coordination as well as working or your thigh, calf, and bottom muscles in a totally different way for even greater calorie burn. You can rock from side to side or turn through a right angle and rock forward and back. It is harder than it looks, but you do not feel unsafe as you are never far from the floor. It also makes your workout feeling like playtime!
Most pieces of home exercise equipment only do one part of a workout, be it cardio or toning. With the T-Bow you can move seamlessly from cardio to strength training just by attaching elastic exercise bands to the sides of the T-Bow; these bands are included with the full T-Bow kit. Using the bands for resistance you can work all your major upper and lower body muscles, toning problem areas like butt, thighs and the backs of your arms. Ladies, do not worry that you will build big, bulky muscles; this is not going to happen! What you will build is toned, lean muscle that burns calories all day, not just when you are exercising.
Another area where the T-Bow excels is Pilates matwork exercises. Many doctors and health professionals recommend Pilates as a wonderful stress-free method of toning and lengthening the muscles in the body, working the core muscles to flatten the stomach and strengthen the back and the postural muscles in the chest and shoulders so that we walk tall and move correctly, thus making spine problems in later life less likely to occur, as we are strong on the inside as well as the outside. If you finish your workout by performing your stretches using the T-Bow, your exercise session will be close to perfect!
