Diet Fads - What works?

By Jeff Cline

A one time or another most American's have dieted. Shedding the pounds has always been around. From fad diets to surgery most have tried something. the question remains, what is the best way to lose weight and keep it off for good.

Fad diets are all the rave. You can lose weight fast and fairly easy on most of them. but since they deprive you of something they usually do not stick. And when you decide to go off of the diet you weight comes right back, most of the time with some added flab too.

I know that me myself and I have tried the huge craze from a few years back of eating like a cave man, meat cheese and veggies. It worked for about 6 months until I felt unsatisfied. I started eating normal again and get it all back, plus 20 extra on top.

Lets talk about the popular diets pills. There are literally thousands of these bought off the supermarket shelves everyday. Most of them can be very dangerous. Yu can develop problems such as; heart problems, stroke and digestive problems.

What I am about to tell you is no secret and I bet it is not what you want to hear, but it is the honest truth. The very best way to achieve weight loss and keep it off is through a healthy diet and exercise. I know it sounds hard, but it really is not.

I am not saying you should drastically reduce calories and work out 7 days a week for 2 hours. You might as well take the diet pills, you wouldn't have to work so hard to harm yourself. You should aim for losing 1-2 pounds per week. More then that your asking for trouble.

Not getting enough nutrition can not be replaced with vitamins. Vitamins are to be only a supplement not a replacement. We need enough calories to sustain our muscles, muscles help us lose weight. And without proper nutrition we can age ourselves 5-10 years.

Here is the scoop. Eat at least 5 healthy meals per day. Five small meals is even better. Drink your 8 glasses of water per day, seriously don't skip this. Get some exercise, you don't have to go crazy with it, 3 times a week of moderate exercise is sufficient.
